The Bankers' Hall of Shame – cases settled by the banks Thousands, of individuals have issued County Court claims against their banks and recovered all the penalty charges imposed on their accounts. (See websites such as penaltycharges.co.uk or bankactiongroup.co.uk which detail hundreds of examples of successful claimants.) I have personally issued on behalf of various individuals claims against all of Britain's main high street banks and won all the cases. As at end of July 2007, I had won 123 cases and recovered in total over three hundred thousand pounds from the banks. Space and time do not permit me to list every case, but for a good selection (but not all of them), see below. Since the end of July 2007, when stays were imposed on all of the claims in the system, the number of wins dropped dramatically. Stays were put on business account claims and credit card claims. These claims should never have been put on hold, but the court refused to listen to any arguments as to why they should not be on hold. However, with some of these claims, the banks decided to pay up anyway even thought they could have left them on stay. Currently, I have about another 40 cases in the court system waiting for resolution of the Test Case. For a summary of wins by bank, see totaliser. I have included a few examples of surrender letters from banks for general amusement! Click on the bank's name (those showing a hyperlink) to see the letter agreeing to pay the claim. But now we must just wait for the resolution of the test case before we can make further progress. |
